Local Farmers Donate Food for National Soyfoods Month

The Freeborn County Corn and Soybean Growers donated $200 each to the Alden Area
Food Shelf and the Ecumenical Food Pantry in Albert Lea in celebration of
National Soyfoods Month.  Read more here.

Farmers Promote Agriculture in Education.  The Albert Lea Tribune reported on a book donation by the association to several elementary schools throughout the county.

The Freeborn County Corn and Soybean Growers Association donated books about
corn, soybeans and hogs to elementary schools throughout Freeborn County to
promote agriculture. Shown are Cole Pestorious, chairman of the association, and
Amber Cameron, media clerk at Lakeview Elementary School.

 

March 31, 2012

During the Shell Eco-Marathon in Houston, Texas, the Alden-Conger Supermileagel team placed first place in the alternative diesel prototype, setting a new record of 674 miles per gallon and second in the alternative gasoline, the E100, class, with 1,020 miles per gallon.

Students on the team are Drew Folie, Isaac Sorensen, Jacob Wallin, and Jacob Sorensen.  Advisors are Jerry Reyerson, Davis Dosma, and James Sorensen.

759 mpg on 100% Ethanol

The Alden-Conger Supermileage Team did a great job in Texas and received 2nd place in the E100 class with 759mpg.  The only team to beat them in the E100 class was the University of Illinois.  Freeborn County Corn & Soybean Growers are a very proud sponsor of this car.
